PARTICIPATION & SAFETY
A short introduction
The Stargate is a space for immersive experiences that explore sound, consciousness, presence and human connection.
Our programme includes a variety of experiences, which may involve sound, music, meditation, movement, vibration, haptic technology, lighting, visual installations and other sensory elements. The nature of each experience varies, and we encourage all participants to consider their own needs and comfort before taking part.
Your safety and wellbeing are important to us. Please read the information below before booking or participating in an experience at The Stargate.
General participation and safety information
By booking, signing up for and/or attending a class, session, event, activity or other programme at The Stargate, you agree to participate responsibly and to follow all reasonable instructions given by The Stargate, its staff, facilitators, practitioners, artists and other representatives.
The activities offered at The Stargate vary in nature and intensity. Some may involve sitting or lying on the floor, movement, physical activity, extended periods of stillness, changes in sensory stimulation or interaction with equipment and installations.
The premises may also include uneven surfaces, steps, low lighting, cables, equipment and other features associated with an immersive venue.
Please follow all instructions provided by our team and use the premises, facilities and equipment responsibly. If you feel unwell, uncomfortable or unable to continue during an experience, you should stop participating and inform a member of staff or facilitator.
Sound, vibration and sensory experiences
Certain experiences at The Stargate may include amplified sound, low-frequency sound, vibration, haptic technology, lighting effects, visual projections, movement, changes in temperature or other forms of sensory stimulation.
These experiences may affect people differently. Some participants may experience temporary discomfort, dizziness, disorientation, nausea, sensory overload or other physical or emotional reactions.
If you are sensitive to sound, vibration, light, visual stimulation or other sensory experiences, please consider whether a particular experience is suitable for you before booking.
If you have any concerns, please speak to a member of the Stargate team or the relevant facilitator before the experience begins.
Personal responsibility and health considerations
You are responsible for determining whether participation in a particular experience is appropriate for you.
Please inform the relevant facilitator or a member of The Stargate team before participating if you have a physical, medical or other condition that may affect your ability to participate safely or that may be affected by the activity or sensory environment.
This may include, for example, conditions or sensitivities relating to sound, vibration, light, movement, balance, sensory stimulation or other aspects of the experience.
If you are unsure whether an experience is suitable for you, we recommend seeking appropriate medical advice before participating.
You are responsible for stopping your participation and informing a member of staff or facilitator if you feel unwell, uncomfortable or unable to continue.
Participation, risks and liability
By booking, signing up for and/or attending classes, sessions, events, activities and other programmes, and by using the premises, facilities and equipment of The Stargate and its affiliated entities (collectively, the “Activities and Facilities”), the participant acknowledges that participation in certain activities and use of the premises and facilities may involve inherent risks.
Depending on the nature of the activity, these risks may include, but are not limited to, minor injuries such as slips, trips, falls, bruises, strains or sprains; physical discomfort or temporary effects associated with sound, vibration, lighting, movement, meditation or other sensory experiences; and, in rare circumstances, more serious injury or other adverse effects.
The participant understands that the nature and level of risk may vary depending on the specific activity, event or experience. The participant agrees to take reasonable care of their own health and safety, to follow all instructions given by The Stargate, its staff, facilitators, artists and practitioners, and to use the premises, facilities and equipment responsibly.
The participant is responsible for informing The Stargate, its staff, facilitators or practitioners before participating in an activity if they have any physical, medical or other condition that may affect their ability to participate safely or that may be affected by the activity or sensory environment. Participants should seek appropriate medical advice where necessary before participating.
Certain experiences at The Stargate may involve amplified sound, low-frequency sound, vibration, haptic technology, lighting effects, movement, changes in sensory stimulation or other immersive elements. Participants who are sensitive to sound, vibration, light, sensory stimulation or other aspects of the environment should consider whether participation is appropriate for them and should inform the relevant facilitator or member of staff of any concerns before the activity begins.
Participants are responsible for stopping their participation and informing a member of staff or facilitator if they feel unwell, uncomfortable or unable to continue.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the participant agrees to assume responsibility for their own participation in the Activities and use of the Facilities and releases The Stargate, its parent, subsidiary and affiliated entities, and their respective directors, officers, employees, representatives, contractors, facilitators, practitioners, artists, agents, successors and assigns from claims, losses, damages, costs and liabilities arising from participation in the Activities or use of the Facilities, except to the extent caused by negligence, wilful misconduct or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
